This guide is here to help you research topics in art, art education, and art history. Art research encompasses the study of painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, design, graphics arts.

Using the tabs at the top of the Research Guide, navigate through the tabs to locate the specific type of resources you need including reference encyclopedias and dictionaries, books, journals and research databases, and web resources. Use the tab for Image Resources to find links to many online sources for images to use for study and research.

Finding books

Circulating Books: Art books are located in the “N” section with a few exceptions like Photography (TR section).  "N" = Visual arts; "NA" = Architecture; "NB" = Sculpture; "NC" = Drawing, Design, and Illustration; "ND" = Painting; "NE" =  Print media; "NK" = Decorative arts; "NX" = Arts in general.  These areas are found on the third floor of the library.

Can't find a book?

Books in the Library: Search in the Library Catalog for books by or about an artist or technique of art. 
Example: Michaelangelo.

Interlibrary Loan: To order books not in the Dixie State University Library use the online Interlibrary Loan service. Allow 10 days for delivery.

DVDs and Videos

Looking for a video or DVD? Type in your keyword in the library catalog. After the search results appear then scroll down to the limit section at the bottom of the page. Limit the material type to AudioVisual material or limit to location to DVDs.
